Many Brisbane swimming pool owners are choosing heat pumps to extend the swimming season of their swimming pool. Heat pumps offer great characteristics and performance, and they’re also an extremely widespread heating method throughout Queensland.
Pool heating systems are widely available in the swimming pool heating market, but there are various models to choose from. So, picking the right one for your swimming pool can be a difficult and confusing process.
In this article, we are going to compare two of the best heat pumps manufactured by Australian-owned and operated, Supreme Heating. We’ll look at the Heatseeker NovaS and the Heatseeker Vortex Pro models.
Let’s find out which one is best for you, but before we do, a little bit of background information.
What is a Heat Pump?
Heat pumps are systems that take heat from the outside environment and release it into the water. Think about them like refrigerators that work in reverse.
Heat pumps take the heat and move it from one place to another with the help of energy. They have refrigerant that helps them transfer the heat they collect from the environment.
Heat pump systems are energy efficient as they do not directly use electricity, but rather take advantage of the environment surrounding them. Due to how much money they can save, they are quite popular in South East Queensland, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast. Shop our range of Pool Heaters
Why Is Supreme Heating the Leading Manufacturer of Heat Pumps?
Supreme Heating offers pool heating solutions for all homeowners wanting to enjoy their swimming pool all year round whilst saving energy. The Australian-owned and family-operated company is one of the most established pool heating solution companies in the country. The company was founded in 1990, and Supreme Heating’s goal has always been to help families all throughout Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth find amazing and innovative heating methods for their pools.

Aside from having a great selection of cost-effective heating systems, Supreme Heating also takes pride in its ability to educate consumers on how to use its products in the best possible way.
With time in the game, Supreme Heating has become one of the pool heating industry leaders. Whenever they have new heating systems available, they test them in their custom-built 10,000-litre swimming pools.
Heat pumps come with 30-year warranties on titanium heat exchanger elements and compressor, evaporator & other components, and come with a 2-7 year limited warranty depending on the model. This way, pool owners can purchase with confidence knowing their pool pump will last for a long time and will be repaired or replaced free of charge if any issues occur within that period.
Heatseeker NovaS
Supreme Heating’s Heatseeker Nova S is a great choice for anyone who wants to control their heat pump wherever they are. The system is Wi-Fi enabled, meaning that you simply need the Handy Heat Pump Android or iOS app to control your swimming pool’s temperature and settings.
Heatseeker NovaS is amazing when you have heat pump systems that have independent circulation pumps. It extracts heat from the environment and uses it to heat your pool. With this product, you will be able to enjoy pool time for an extended period. It can decrease up to 30% of your annual energy consumption. Take that rising energy costs!

The heat pump uses inverter technology. This makes it possible for you to control the compressor’s speed. As such, it will boost energy efficiency while improving the pump’s performance.
This Supreme Heating product comes in four kilowatt (kW) sizes, respectively 9kW, 13kW, 17kW, and 20kW. It’s slightly different from the Vortex Pro model which has six kW sizes.
Also, the ideal pool volume for this system ranges from 20,000 litres to 50,000 litres for a cold climate, and from 30,000 to 60,000 litres for a warm climate. The suitable pool volume will be influenced by the kW size. It has less pool volume power than the Vortex Pro, but this makes it suitable for smaller pools.
Heatseeker NovaS has both a heat and cool mode. With the help of the Wi-Fi app, you can control the temperature, switch between modes, set timers, do silent mode settings, but also turn the heat pump on and off.
You get a 30-year limited warranty for the titanium heat exchanger element, whereas for the compressor, evaporator & other components, you get a 2-year limited warranty.

Heatseeker Vortex Pro
The Heatseeker Vortex Pro helps you enjoy the swimming season for longer. This model can offer up to 50% better efficiency with up to 15 coefficients of performance (COP). Not only does it vary the inverter compressor’s working frequency, but it can also synchronise the compressor and fan speeds. As a result, the airflow from and to the heat pump enjoys optimisation.
There are six kilowatt (kW) sizes available with the Vortex Pro models. You can choose from 10kW, 13kW, 17kW, 21kW, 28kW, and a whooping 35kW! This provides you with more kW options compared to the NovaS models.
The Vortex Pro heat pump can heat pool volumes starting from 20,000 litres all the way up to a massive 80,000 litres for cold climates, and from 30,000 to a whopping 100,000 litres in warmer climates. Overall, it can heat larger pool volumes compared to the NovaS.

Just like the NovaS model, the Vortex Pro heat pump is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing you to control the system from anywhere with an Internet connection. Also, like the Nova S application features, Vortex Pro allows you to do timer settings, switch between the heating and cooling modes, control the temperature, and turn the device on and off.
However, with this system, you can also check weather conditions and make settings accordingly.
Vortex Pro also has a 30-year limited warranty for the titanium heat exchanger element and a 2-year warranty for the evaporator and other components. But when it comes to the compressor, it is a bit different from the Nova S as it offers a 7-year limited warranty.

The Verdict?
Both the Heatseeker NovaS and Vortex Pro are amazing products manufactured by an Australian company. They can be controlled through a phone app, and they can help you save energy. But which one is better for you?
While they are both great, the NovaS is better if you have a smaller pool, whereas the Vortex Pro is more suitable for larger volumes. If you don’t need to heat a large pool, sticking to the NovaS may be a better option.
Also, if you want something with multiple kW sizes to choose from, you should go for the Vortex Pro. It also offers a longer warranty for the evaporator.
